You know that moment on Astra Malorum where the run feels perfect, then the Mars step shows up and everything slows to a crawl? Yeah, that one. If you're trying to stay calm and keep the squad from spiralling, having a plan matters, and I've found it helps to get your setup sorted early, even if you're also dabbling in stuff like a CoD BO7 Bot Lobby on the side for practice and warm-ups.

    Trigger the Mars phase properly
Once you're actually on Mars, don't rush around shooting things "because it feels right." Go straight for Dr. Thurston's Brain in the middle. Pick it up, head up to the altar area, and slot it in. Then interact again until you get the audio cue. People skip that second interaction all the time, then wonder why nothing is responding. It's not bugged, you just didn't start the step.

Get the pylons in the right order
After the cue, move to the east window and line up the four distant pylons. You're not guessing here, it's a sequence. Shoot the far-right pylon first. Then the far-left. After that, hit the near-right, and finish with the near-left. If you've done it clean, you'll see the Ascendant Eye bird appear and you'll know you're on track.

Freeze the bird and wait out gravity
Now turn back toward the west side, and look for the orb above the altar. Shoot it to lock the bird in place. Keep tagging it, too, because it doesn't stay frozen for free. The annoying part is the low-gravity cycle. You're basically babysitting that orb until gravity drops, then you jump, grab the Ascendant Eye when it's finally reachable, and carry it over to the southern altar before you get distracted.

Light up the five pillars with the Wonder Weapon
This is where loadout choices bite you. You need the LGM-1 Wonder Weapon to deal with the pillar antennas. There are five pillars total: one to the south, two on the west side near the brain altar area, and two toward the north. Aim for the small golden antenna on each. When it's hit correctly, the top shifts blue. If one looks like it has no antenna, it can be visual jank—swap areas, continue, and don't panic.

Piano sequence and the "blank" symbol trick
Head back to the Observatory Core on Astra Malorum and find the piano. Use the device next to it and watch the five-symbol sequence it flashes. One slot can appear blank, kind of like "sound waves" or nothing at all. Your job is to figure out which Mars pillar symbol didn't appear in the piano's set. That missing symbol is what the blank represents. Then return to Mars and interact with the pillar faces in the exact order shown by the piano, treating the blank as that missing symbol. When the faces turn blue, you've nailed it, so go back and interact with Thurston's Brain because the next beat comes fast and you don't want to be fumbling with menus when the fight kicks off.

Try not to overthink it: clean triggers, clean order, and keep someone on callouts so you're not all staring at the same pillar. If you're running attempts back-to-back, it's worth building a little routine so each wipe teaches you something instead of just burning time, and that's also why some players mix in CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies for low-stress reps between real runs.
